Car Park and Access Improvement Works in the Lake District
Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd was appointed to upgrade and extend the existing car park at Brockhole Visitor Centre, a high-profile location in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
Delivered under a JCT Intermediate Building Contract 2016, the 14-week project involved the re-profiling and re-grading of the existing car park, installation of new surfacing finishes, root protection works around mature trees, and extensive landscaping.
All works were carried out while maintaining uninterrupted visitor access and circulation routes — including safe working below the popular Treetop Trek high-level adventure course. CBR testing, porous/impermeable surfacing solutions, and controlled deliveries were all implemented to accommodate the sensitive environment and high visitor numbers.
