Clark Door, Carlisle

Highway Bay Testing Facility for Clark Doors, Carlisle
The project involved the construction of high bay testing facility with joiner’s shop attached to the existing factory, including a 21m high section of building to facilitate testing of large bespoke doors. Also, a new modular office extension and new surfacing to external areas.
Challenges & How they were overcome:
The extension was a relatively simple construction of portal frame and composite cladded building but had a complex, heavily loaded steel frame on large, reinforced foundations. The primary requirement was to achieve completion of test rig area for testing of doors. This was achieved by close co-ordination of design of steel frame with in-house design for test rig.
Works were carried out within an industrial park, working adjacent to a live factory. We formed a good relationship with the park operator and Client which was maintained throughout the project.
Achievements:
- The project was delivered on programme.
- The project was delivered with zero reportable Health & Safety incidents.
- The project was delivered with zero environmental incidents.
- 62% of subcontractors used on the project were local to the project site, this exceeds the Company target.
- The project achieved zero waste sent to landfill.
