Creating a Centralised Hub for Cumbria Health Operations

Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd was appointed by Cumbria Health on Call (CHoC) to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment and upgrade of an existing building in Carlisle. The scope included full internal and external renovations, internal demolition, and the construction of modern consultation rooms, dental and training suites, and open-plan offices.

The facility now serves as the central hub for CHoC operations, with over 100 employees accommodated on-site. In addition to staff use, new ground floor spaces were created for potential lease to healthcare professionals, generating a future income stream for the organisation.

Upgrades also included new access ramps, external balustrading, façade enhancements, and careful coordination with neighbouring businesses throughout the programme. Despite client-side changes and structural challenges, the project achieved successful outcomes across quality, sustainability, and community engagement metrics.
