Town Centre Retail Development: Lidl & WCF, Cockermouth

Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd was appointed to construct two new retail stores in Cockermouth for Lidl UK GmbH and WCF. The project was delivered in phases to allow the original WCF store to continue trading while its replacement was built, before demolition and remediation works cleared the site for Lidl’s new build.

The works were carried out in a constrained, live town centre environment and included full access coordination, parking management, and liaison with local stakeholders to minimise disruption. Both stores were built to a high specification using a mix of traditional and modern construction methods.
