Temporary Car Park Construction for Cumbria County Council

Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd was appointed by Cumbria County Council to convert remediated land at Dova Way, Barrow, into a temporary car park to serve BAE Systems employees during the development of a new permanent facility.

Delivered over a tight 9-week programme and under NEC 3 Option A, the works involved new vehicle access, lighting, surfacing, bus shelters, and vehicle control barriers. Due to tight procurement and delivery windows, Early Contractor Involvement and use of surplus materials from other projects were essential in meeting the handover date and minimising environmental impact.

The car park was successfully completed on a Friday and fully operational by the following Monday, with all deliverables achieved on time and with zero waste sent to landfill.
