Storm Recovery Works Across Multiple Highway Sites in Cumbria

Following the severe weather impacts of Storm Desmond in 2015, Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd undertook a major programme of repairs across six separate sites spanning from Patterdale near Ullswater to Warcop, located off the A66 in east Cumbria.

The works included slope stabilisation at Grisedale Lane using rock armour, concrete underpinning to a stone retaining wall at Hartsop, and extensive drainage and road improvements at Mungrisedale, Warcop, and Bampton to Burnbanks. Additionally, riverbank reprofiling at Warcop incorporated rock rolls and willow planting to reinforce the new slope and reduce erosion risk.
