Factory Extension in Carlise

The project involved the design, supply and completion of two extensions of 7076m2 & 3496m2 to the existing Pirelli tyre factory in Carlisle. Extension of Banbury Mixer Room – 3 Storey 28m high steel framed building including independent mezzanine structure, Kingspan cladding to walls and roof, installation of internal crane, goods lift, ventilation, welfare/office/WC facilities.

Building services delivered at Pirelli, Carlisle

Building Works:

  • Extension of Banbury Mixer Room – 3 Storey 28m high steel framed building including independent mezzanine structure, Kingspan cladding to walls and roof, installation of internal crane, goods lift, ventilation, welfare/office/WC facilities.
  • Quantiplex 14 Bay Extension - Single storey steel framed structure with Kingspan cladding, fire zone between existing factory and new area.
  • External service yard, maintenance access road and associated drainage.

Challenges & Achievements:

  • Working to tight design and construction schedules to meet Client’s expectations.
  • Co-ordination and management of the works around Pirelli’s Italian fit-out team.
  • Phasing of the works to maintain production of the existing factory.
  • Successfully completing the project whilst complying with strict COVID-19 procedures.
  • The project was delivered with zero reportable Health & Safety incidents.
  • The amount of construction waste sent to landfill was minimal, with over 99% of the total waste being diverted from landfill.
