Stadium Refurbishment and Athletics Track Upgrade in Carlisle
Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd was appointed to refurbish and restore Sheepmount Athletics Stadium in Carlisle following severe flood damage caused by Storm Desmond.
The project included refurbishment of the upper and lower changing rooms, replacement of the existing eight-lane athletics track with a new IAAF-standard polymetric track, installation of new equipment, and preparation of the site for an all-weather football pitch.
The works were carried out with careful coordination around public access routes, including a live public footpath and the adjacent gun club facility. Close liaison with stakeholders ensured safe delivery throughout the 29-week programme.
